I’m “Gaijin Girl” a.k.a. Morgan - writer, bookseller, Japanophile, deviant and crafter.
See here for pictures and personal info.
In August this year I will be going on a three week, one-woman trip to Japan, with an unrealistic itinerary that includes Tokyo, Odaiba, Kyoto, Hiroshima, Nikko, Kamakura and Hakone, not to mention climbing Mount Fuji.
As well as sight-seeing, I will be scouting out awesome supplies for a new Japanese shop here in the U.K., and researching book number two.
In fact, this website is just the beginning of my Gaijin Empire - for kawaii cuties, Harajuku lovers and other people who wish they were Japanese. Like many Westerners I feel strangely drawn to the simplistic yet inexpressible aesthetic of modern Tokyo culture, to love hotels and vending machines, to tezuka and tea ceremonies. Like looking through a tiny capsule window into the future, Japan is always on the pulse of the biggest, brightest, most brain-boggling trends.
I plan to be microblogging text and photos regularly both in the run up to my trip and while in Japan, as well as opening up an Etsy shop for lovely Japanophile goodies in the forthcoming weeks. Watch this space!
In the meantime, please feel free to ‘ask me anything’ or offer tips on travelling solo in Tokyo. Domo arigato!
